||||||||
January 2010 New Year, new downhill course, new website! It keeps getting better! December 2009 Now 10 entries with 9 months to go! 2010 looks like being a record number of runners November 2009 We are working on a new route for the 2010 races, starting in the centre of St Annes in Victoria Street then joining the coast road round the island. A downhill run for the 10 km race, from 300 ft to sea level in a sweeping descent - definitely P.B. territory! The Half Marathon runners then continue for a second lap of the Island. October 2009 We now have an on-line entry facility on this website, very quick and simple and you can pay by credit card or PayPal. It obviously works because we've had 5 entries for the 2010 race already! September 2009 What a race! Perfect weather, a record 64 runners and a course record of 1hr 23min 34 secs for the Half Marathon by Westbury Harrier Jon Terry. His partner Debbie Marsden won the 10 km race beating all the men in 39 min 50 secs. Everyone had a great time, but don't just take our word for it, click here to see what the runners said. August 2009 With just a few days to go, there are still places available for what promises to be the best Alderney Half Marathon yet. On line and postal entries accepted until the end of August, then you can enter on the day. July 2009 Entries are coming in thick and fast, it looks like being a record 21st year. Braye Beach Hotel have kindly agreed to host the prize giving in their conference room, and to generously provide a free sandwich lunch. A group of French runners want to compete, and we are trying to arrange a private boat for them. June 2009 Braye Beach Hotel is now full on the night of 5 September, although they have rooms on the night before the race. You are strongly advised to book flights and accommodation as soon as possible. May 2009 We have now formed the Alderney Runners, with a training run every Wednesday at 18:00 from the Moorings in Braye. Visitors and runners of all abilities are very welcome to join us. We split into ability groups from walk/runners to serious athletes. April 2009 Entries are starting to come in for the 2009 race. We have 13 paid entrants and a promise of another 16. Not bad for April! September 2008 What a wet and windy race! Despite the weather, we had twice the number of runners than last year, and everyone finished without injury. Well done everyone! Our thanks to all the wet and cold marshallers for bravely sticking to their posts. The photos are on the website for free download. | ||||||||
